Atalanta have made an initial bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Odilon Kossounou, according to reports in Italy.

The Serie A club have offered a loan fee of €5 million with an option to buy clause that could become mandatory under certain conditions.

Kossounou, who joined Leverkusen from Club Brugge in 2021, has struggled for playing time this season and is keen on a move away.

Atalanta are looking to strengthen their defence ahead of the new season and see Kossounou as a good fit for their style of play.
