Real Betis secured their place in the UECL knockout stages with a narrow 1-0 victory over HJK Helsinki

The hosts fielded a strong lineup, knowing a draw would secure their place in the competition beyond Christmas. Johnny Cardoso, a regular starter, scored the lone goal in the 27th minute with a close-range finish.

Betis pushed for more goals in the second half, but couldn't find the net. However, the victory was enough for Manuel Pellegrini's side to advance to the knockout stage.

Betis will participate in the play-off round, having finished 15th in the league phase. They will face either Gent or FC Copenhagen.
