Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea Compete for Mathys Tel's Signature

Tottenham Hotspur is preparing to go head-to-head with Chelsea and several other European clubs to secure the services of 19-year-old Mathys Tel, who has expressed his desire to leave Bayern Munich. The club's sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed that Tel has requested a move due to frustration over limited playing time at the Allianz Arena. Bayern is now considering whether to grant his request.
Reports from January 14 suggest that Chelsea has shown interest in bringing Tel to Stamford Bridge, while Bayern is evaluating the possibility of acquiring Christopher Nkunku, either through a player exchange or a separate transfer deal.
While Chelsea continues negotiations, Tottenham has entered the race, hoping to offer Tel more consistent playing opportunities. The young forward has played only 458 minutes across 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
German reports indicate that Bayern Munich may look to loan Tel out, though the player himself prefers a permanent move. Other clubs such as Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Marseille have also expressed interest, with United focusing first on clearing out players.
It remains uncertain whether Arsenal will shift their attention from pursuing Ollie Watkins to join the clubs eyeing Tel. Eberl noted that it is rare to see so many clubs showing interest in one player.
