AC Milan’s Transformation: Gimenez Joins, Morata and Calabria Depart

AC Milan is undergoing a significant transformation as the winter transfer window approaches its close. The club has made notable moves by parting ways with Alvaro Morata and Davide Calabria, while bringing in Santiago Gimenez.
With the Serie A transfer deadline set for Tuesday at 06:00 WIB, the Rossoneri are working hard to reshape their squad. Milan decided to let go of Morata just six months after his arrival from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024.
The Spanish striker will be joining Galatasaray on loan for the rest of the 2024-25 season, with an obligation to purchase. During his brief time at Milan, Morata scored six goals across all competitions.
At the same time, Gimenez was making his way to Milan after the club reached an agreement with Feyenoord for his transfer. The deal for the 23-year-old Mexican striker is reportedly worth €32 million plus bonuses, along with a percentage of his future sale.
Gimenez has been in excellent form for Feyenoord in the 2024-25 season, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists in 19 matches. Meanwhile, right-back and Milan captain Davide Calabria will leave the club to join Bologna.
Although his contract was nearing its end, the move to Bologna was completed for a fee of around €1 million, with an additional €500,000 in add-ons. Calabria’s departure had been planned, but it was hastened following a disagreement with coach Sergio Conceicao.
