Dramatic Milan Derby Ends in a Draw

The Derby della Madonnina between AC Milan and Inter Milan finished in a 1-1 draw, with both teams sharing the spoils after a thrilling encounter. AC Milan took the lead shortly before halftime, thanks to a goal from Tijjani Reijnders, but Inter equalized deep into injury time through Stefan de Vrij.

The match, held at San Siro, was full of drama, with Inter Milan having three goals disallowed during the game. Milan's early lead was the result of Reijnders capitalizing on a rebound following a save from Inter’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer in the 45th minute.

Despite Milan's advantage, Inter came close to scoring several times. In the opening minutes, Lautaro Martinez had the ball in the net, but it was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. He found the back of the net again in the 33rd minute, only for that goal to be disallowed due to Nicolo Barella's offside position in the buildup.

Inter continued to press, but their efforts were thwarted by the referee in the second half as well. Lautaro Martinez thought he had equalized in the 65th minute, but the goal was ruled out after a foul by Denzel Dumfries on Theo Hernandez. Inter didn’t give up, and Marcus Thuram nearly brought them level, but his two attempts hit the woodwork.

Finally, in the 90+3 minute, Inter found their equalizer when de Vrij headed in a delivery from Nicola Zalewski, sending the San Siro crowd into a frenzy.

The result meant that Inter could not close the gap to Serie A leaders Napoli, who remain at the top with 53 points. Inter, with 51 points, remains in second place. AC Milan, meanwhile, is still in eighth place with 35 points.
