Stuttgart defeated Augsburg 1-0, becoming the first team to advance to the DFB-Pokal semi-finals.

On February 5, it was reported that thanks to a goal from Deniz Türüc, last season's Bundesliga runners-up, Stuttgart, defeated Augsburg 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal, becoming one of the first teams to advance to this season's semi-finals.

The German national team forward Türüc scored in the 30th minute, putting Stuttgart on track in front of 59,000 spectators. Winger Chris Führich later missed a chance to make it 2-0. Augsburg, who had been unbeaten in their last four matches, missed their first opportunity to reach the DFB-Pokal semi-finals since the 2009/10 season. Meanwhile, Stuttgart ended a run of three consecutive losses with this victory.

"In the end, what matters is advancing, and that's what we achieved today. Fortunately, I scored this goal. I've had a lot of careless mistakes recently, and perhaps this goal will help boost my confidence," Türüc said on ARD.

Augsburg's Marius Wolf commented, "It was an open game. The chance to beat Stuttgart was there, but we didn't seize it consistently enough."

The other quarter-final matches will take place this Wednesday and at the end of February.
