Félix and Abraham Shine as AC Milan Defeats AS Roma in Coppa Italia Quarter-Final

João Félix scored on his debut, and Tammy Abraham netted a brace against his parent club, leading AC Milan to a 3-1 victory over AS Roma in their Coppa Italia quarter-final at the San Siro on Wednesday.

Milan, who have won the Coppa Italia five times, will face either Inter Milan or Lazio in the semi-finals.

Abraham, who joined Milan from Roma on a season-long loan in August, opened the scoring in the 16th minute and added another goal just before halftime.

Roma substitute Artem Dovbyk pulled one back for his team nine minutes into the second half. However, Félix, who arrived on loan from Chelsea just two days prior, came off the bench to score in the 71st minute.

After a cautious start, Milan capitalized on their first real opportunity. Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar parried a powerful shot from Tijjani Reijnders, and the ball fell to Theo Hernández, who delivered a cross that Abraham headed into the far corner.

The goal prompted a response from Roma, with Milan's keeper Mike Maignan denying chances from Eldor Shomurodov and Paulo Dybala. Niccolo Pisilli came close to equalizing but saw his header hit the crossbar.

Milan managed to extend their lead against the run of play after regaining possession in midfield. Hernández surged forward and found Abraham just outside the box, who then drove his shot past the advancing keeper.

Roma made three substitutions at halftime, which proved effective as Dovbyk brought them back into contention. A deflected cross from Angelino fell to Dovbyk at the back post, allowing him to score from close range.

In response, Milan coach Sergio Conceição introduced new signings Félix and Santiago Gimenez, and they quickly linked up to increase the lead. Gimenez delivered a perfect pass to Félix, who outpaced the defense and calmly chipped the ball over Svilar.

Milan had a moment of concern when Reijnders inadvertently headed the ball into his own net, but the goal was ruled out for offside in the buildup.

Despite continued pressure from Roma, Milan, who won the Italian Super Cup last month, remain on track for additional silverware.
