Manchester City has officially announced the signing of Porto midfielder Nico González for a transfer fee of €60 million, which will be paid in installments.

Barcelona holds a 40% sell-on clause for González, meaning they will receive a substantial share of any future transfer fee.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract with Manchester City until 2029.

González is a versatile midfielder and becomes City's fourth signing of the transfer window, joining new recruits Houssem Aouar and Reis Mahmoud.

His football journey began at Barcelona's renowned La Masia academy in 2013. He later progressed to the first team, making 37 appearances.

After a successful season at Valencia, he made a permanent move to Porto in 2023, where he played 68 matches and scored 9 goals, including the winning goal in last Thursday's 1-0 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League.

González described the transfer as “perfect” and expressed his eagerness to begin his career at Manchester City.

“At this stage of my career, this is a perfect opportunity for me. I’m 23 years old, and I want to test myself in England. There is no better club for me than Manchester City.
