Real Madrid secured a crucial 1-0 away victory against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg, thanks to a decisive combination from Jude Bellingham and Endrick. The Brazilian forward continued his impressive cup run, netting his fourth goal of the campaign.  

Bellingham's exquisite pass sliced through the Sociedad defense, finding Endrick, who calmly slotted the ball past Alex Remiro in the 18th minute. Despite creating further chances, Real Madrid were unable to extend their lead.

However, the victory was heavily indebted to goalkeeper Andrii Lunin, who delivered a stellar performance. Lunin’s six crucial saves, preventing 1.3 expected goals, thwarted Sociedad’s attempts to equalize, solidifying his role as a key player. Notably, he became the first Madrid goalkeeper since 2013-14 to achieve six saves in a Copa match without conceding.

The match wasn't without its concerns for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

Dani Ceballos suffered an injury, leaving the field in tears, a blow ahead of a demanding schedule. Real Madrid now faces a challenging period, including clashes against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and crucial LaLiga fixtures, before the second leg of this semi-final in April. Bellingham's creative prowess, demonstrated by his six chances created, coupled with Lunin's goalkeeping heroics, proved pivotal in securing Madrid's advantage.
