Neymar Expected to Rejoin Brazil National Team in March After Impressive Return to Santos

February 27 News — According to Brazilian media outlet "Globo Esporte," Neymar, currently playing for the Brazilian club Santos, is expected to be recalled to the Brazil national team in March. This would mark the return of the 33-year-old forward after a 14-month absence.
"Globo Esporte" reports that since rejoining Santos from Al-Hilal during the winter transfer window, Neymar has performed well, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists in the 6 matches he has played for Santos so far. His resurgence has caught the attention of Brazil's national team coach, Dorival, who hopes to reinstate him for the upcoming South American World Cup qualifiers next month.
The report states that coach Dorival is ready to include Neymar in the squad for matches against Colombia and Argentina in March. If all goes as planned, Neymar will have the opportunity to compete alongside his former teammates Messi from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Since Neymar returned to Brazilian football, Dorival has been closely monitoring his progress. During Neymar's first match back against Botafogo, Dorival's assistant, Lucas Silvestre, attended the game in person. Additionally, several members of the Brazilian national team's technical staff visited Santos' training ground to assess Neymar's condition and preparations. Dorival himself was present at the match where Santos faced Norost, receiving a warm welcome from Neymar and the club's management.
Neymar last wore the national team jersey in October 2023 during a 0-2 loss to Uruguay, in which he also suffered a serious injury and has since been sidelined for nearly a year. He missed last year's Copa America, where Brazil was eliminated by Uruguay in the quarterfinals.
