Real Madrid's Summer Transfer Plans: Focus on Full-Backs and Midfield Reinforcements

According to a recent report from Spanish media outlet Relevo, Real Madrid has updated its plans for summer signings, particularly regarding the full-back positions. Besides securing Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, the club is also looking to sign a new left-back at a low cost this summer.
Initially, Real Madrid had a strong desire to sign Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies, viewing him as their primary target for the position. However, Davies ultimately decided to renew his contract with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, which significantly impacted Real Madrid's recruitment plans. In response to this development, the club quickly adjusted its strategy, broadening its search for potential alternatives and remaining open to completing new signings during the summer transfer window.
Currently, the team has two left-backs, Fran García and Ferland Mendy, both of whom are under contract. However, neither has fully satisfied the club's management with their performances. While Mendy has shown solid defensive capabilities, his frequent injuries and limited offensive contributions have hindered his development. On the other hand, García is regarded as a reliable substitute, but he lacks sufficient experience and strength to start in crucial matches. Therefore, Real Madrid is focusing on finding left-back reinforcements that are either in favorable contract situations or possess significant potential, while adhering to their usual low-cost recruitment strategy to secure ideal candidates at reasonable prices.
On the right-back front, Real Madrid is close to reaching an agreement with Alexander-Arnold, and the internal consensus is that the deal for the England international is virtually certain.
Moreover, Real Madrid's transfer market actions are not limited to the left-back position. The club is also actively seeking a midfielder to succeed Luka Modrić in order to maintain control and creativity in the midfield.
As for the center-back position, while it is not currently a top priority for Real Madrid, internal sources suggest that the club may take action next year to further strengthen their defensive capabilities.
