Shomurodov Rescues Roma Point in Tight Draw with Juventus

AS Roma and Juventus shared the spoils in a closely contested Serie A encounter on Sunday, finishing 1-1 after Eldor Shomurodov cancelled out Manuel Locatelli's first-half strike. Juventus captain Locatelli opened the scoring five minutes before the break with a well-taken shot from outside the box. However, Roma substitute Shomurodov responded swiftly after halftime, pouncing on a rebound to smash the ball in off the crossbar.

The draw marks Igor Tudor's second game in charge of Juventus, following his winning debut against Genoa. Juventus now sit fifth in the league standings with 56 points from 31 games, level with Bologna. Meanwhile, Roma, unbeaten in Serie A since December, occupy seventh place with 53 points, maintaining their aspirations for Champions League qualification.

Despite Juventus's aggressive start, with Timothy Weah testing Roma's keeper early on, both sides created opportunities. Bryan Cristante was denied by a crucial block, and Dusan Vlahovic threatened with a header. Stephan El Shaarawy also struck the post for Roma before Locatelli's opener.

Roma, who struggled to find the target in the first half, found their equaliser through Shomurodov. Following Evan Ndicka's header from a corner, Shomurodov was well-positioned to convert the rebound, securing a valuable point for Claudio Ranieri's side. Roma now face a challenging run of fixtures, including matches against Inter Milan, Atalanta, Fiorentina, AC Milan, and Lazio.
