Ruthless Barcelona Thrash Dortmund 4-0, Flick Cautions Against Complacency

Barcelona delivered a commanding performance, dismantling Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday. However, manager Hansi Flick swiftly dismissed any notion of the tie being over ahead of next week's return leg in Germany.

Despite the emphatic victory, Flick stressed the unpredictable nature of football. "No, no, no... We are definitely not qualified yet! You never know what's going to happen," he told Movistar Plus, emphasizing the need for a similar flawless performance in Dortmund. "To advance we have to play in Dortmund like we did today, without making mistakes."

Undefeated since December and chasing a treble, Barcelona's potent attack shone once again. Robert Lewandowski struck twice against his former club, adding to Raphinha's opener, while young Lamine Yamal completed the rout. Flick also lauded his defense for securing a clean sheet.

"(Lewandowski, Yamal and Raphinha) are brilliant and very important for us, but so is our defence," Flick stated, also praising the impact of substitutes. He highlighted the importance of squad depth during this crucial stage of the season. While acknowledging the high level of play, Flick insisted on the need for improvement and commended his team's defensive efforts against Dortmund's pace. "We played at a very high level, but we did make some mistakes and we can improve," he concluded.
