The Sun: Insiders Expect Liverpool to Spend £200 Million on Signings This Summer

On April 20, The Sun's renowned journalist Alan Nixon reported that Liverpool is actively planning their summer transfer strategy.
Despite Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah having recently signed a contract extension, Liverpool is still keen to sign Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroonian forward's speed and strength have caught the attention of Liverpool scouts, who have been monitoring his performances closely.
Internally, Mbeumo is viewed as a potential successor to Salah once his contract concludes. Brentford is expected to demand around £50 million for Mbeumo.
Liverpool aims to rejuvenate their attacking lineup for next season, and Mbeumo possesses all the qualities they desire. The 25-year-old scored twice in a 4-2 victory over Brighton on Saturday, bringing his Premier League tally to 18 goals this season.
If Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez departs this summer, Mbeumo would certainly be an appealing option for Liverpool, as he can play both on the right and centrally. Insiders estimate that Liverpool could be willing to spend up to £200 million on new signings this summer.
Mbeumo was signed by Brentford from Troyes in 2019 for £5.8 million, and his style of play and impact have drawn comparisons to Salah.
Mbeumo's contract with the Bees runs until the summer of 2026, which may compel Brentford to consider a lucrative sale this summer.
The Sun also reports that Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in the forward.
