Barça Crowned La Liga Champions as Bilbao Clinch Champions League Spot

FC Barcelona secured their 28th La Liga title on Thursday night with a decisive 2-0 victory away against local rivals Espanyol. In a tense derby clash, a moment of brilliance from young Lamine Yamal in the 53rd minute broke the deadlock, the winger cutting inside and curling a magnificent shot into the net.
Espanyol’s hopes of a comeback were dashed ten minutes from time when Leandro Cabrera was shown a red card for striking Yamal. Deep into added time, Fermin Lopez sealed the championship for Barça with a second goal.
Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao clinched a coveted Champions League spot with a 2-0 away win against Getafe. Second-half substitute Oihan Sancet sparked the Basque side into life, with Gorka Guruzeta firing home from outside the box in the 76th minute, followed by Dani Vivian’s close-range finish from a corner just before the final whistle. The defeat leaves Getafe in precarious relegation territory after their sixth consecutive loss.
In other La Liga action, Atletico Madrid suffered a setback in their inconsistent form, falling 2-0 away to Osasuna. Alejandro Catena’s first-half goal and a late strike from Ante Budimir secured the win for Osasuna, keeping their European qualification dreams alive. Elsewhere, Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis played out a 2-2 draw, a result that confirmed Betis's sixth-place finish but left both teams feeling they could have taken more.
