Liverpool's Summer Transfer Plans

Liverpool's Summer Transfer Plans
On May 19, English media outlet The Daily Telegraph reported on Liverpool's upcoming transfer activities this summer.

According to the report, manager Slot has indicated that Liverpool is set to launch a significant recruitment drive, focusing on bringing in "new weapons" for their title defense next season. He is close to finalizing the club's first signing of the summer, with Bayer Leverkusen right-back Florian Wirtz expected to transfer to Anfield for £30 million, pending a medical and personal terms agreement. This would mark Slot's third major transfer since taking charge, following the signings of Chiesa last summer and Georgian goalkeeper Mamardashvili, who will also join after a loan back to Valencia.

However, Liverpool has more plans in the pipeline. Slot acknowledged that his only regret from this successful season was not rotating the squad more frequently during the busiest months. A stronger squad depth could have allowed Liverpool to progress further in cup competitions.

"I am 100% sure that not all my decisions were correct," Slot said. "I completely agree with something Arteta said: sometimes you need to be in the right place at the right time."
"In the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Although we performed well at home, it wasn't our best state of the season. So you could say I should have rotated more from November to March, which would have made us more energetic for that match."

"But maybe it’s because I didn’t rotate that we achieved our current league position. Looking back at my decisions, it’s hard to say what would have been better or worse. We can never know. Perhaps if we had done things differently, we could have won both the league and the Champions League, but we might also end up with neither."

Regardless of who Liverpool's upcoming targets are, they are eager to sign top players. In their pursuit of Bournemouth defender Wysom, they lost out to Real Madrid, but their interest in Leverkusen's key player Wirtz indicates that the club is closely monitoring the situation of top players this summer. Once the transfer window opens, Liverpool is ready to explore and assess which stars may be available for transfer.
