Despite losing 0-1 to Atlético Madrid in their final group match, Botafogo also progressed as the second-place team thanks to their goal difference. Atlético Madrid, however, fell short on goal difference, finishing third and failing to qualify.

Meanwhile, Seattle Sounders lost all three of their group-stage matches, ending at the bottom of Group B.
