Como Poised to Sign Rising Star Jesús Rodríguez from Real Betis in €28.5M Deal

Como, the newly promoted Serie A side backed by the Cesc Fàbregas-led 1789 FC group, is on the verge of securing a major coup with the signing of 19-year-old Spanish winger Jesús Rodríguez from Real Betis. The transfer, reported late Thursday, involves an initial €22.5 million fee with an additional €6 million in potential add-ons, bringing the total value to €28.5 million.
Rodríguez, a product of Real Betis’ youth academy, made his senior debut in October 2024 and has already caught attention with his selection for Spain’s U-19 team at the 2024 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. Standing at 1.85 meters, the Sevilla-born talent is regarded as a promising left winger with significant upside, though his senior experience remains limited to one La Liga appearance.
This move underscores Como’s ambitious strategy to compete in Italy’s top flight following their promotion. The club, which has benefited from substantial investment since 2022, is tapping into a growing trend of Italian clubs targeting La Liga talents, with Spanish player transfers to Italy rising 30% since 2020, according to the CIES Football Observatory. The deal, if finalized, could mark a defining moment for both Rodríguez and Como’s aspirations in European football.
