Aston Villa Secure €35m Striker Evann Guessand from OGC Nice

Birmingham, UK – August 6, 2025 – Aston Villa have finalized a €35 million deal to sign OGC Nice striker Evann Guessand, marking a significant coup for manager Unai Emery as the Premier League season approaches. The transfer, which includes a base fee of €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons, was confirmed after Nice accepted Villa’s bid, with the 24-year-old Ivorian forward set to undergo medicals and sign his contract today.
Guessand, who scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 last season, brings versatility and goal-scoring prowess to Emery’s squad. His move follows Nice’s acceptance of a similar offer from Saudi side Neom SC, which Guessand rejected, opting instead for a Premier League challenge. The transfer aligns with Villa’s strategy to strengthen their attack under financial constraints imposed by Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
The deal comes amid Nice’s recent sale of defender Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham, suggesting a shift in their transfer policy. Guessand’s recent knee injury, which ruled him out of Nice’s Champions League qualifier, may have influenced negotiations, providing Villa an opportunity to secure a talented yet undervalued asset. Emery’s tactical acumen, honed by three Europa League titles with Sevilla, will now be tested in integrating Guessand into Villa’s Premier League campaign.
