Barcelona Squad Update: Pedri Suffers Serious Muscle Injury, Out Until Late December

October 30 – According to the latest reports from *Mundo Deportivo*, *Sport*, *AS*, and Catalunya Rádio (understood as a coordinated press release), Pedri has sustained a serious injury.
Sources indicate that the Spanish midfielder will be sidelined until late December. This means that aside from missing Sunday’s match against Elche (due to a suspension carried over from his red card in the clash against Real Madrid), he will also be unavailable for the fixtures against Club Brugge and Celta Vigo, as well as the upcoming Spanish national team call-ups.
Following the international break, Pedri is expected to remain absent for key encounters against Athletic Club, Chelsea, Alavés, and will likely miss the crucial fixture against Atlético Madrid as well.
On December 2, Atlético Madrid will visit Barcelona, marking one of Barça’s most challenging tests before the Christmas period.
With both Pedri and Gavi unavailable, Marc Casadó is expected to form a key double pivot alongside Frenkie de Jong in midfield. Eric García, known for his versatility and ability to play in front of the defensive line, remains a reliable option for manager Hansi Flick.
Lastly, Marc Bernal, despite his own long-term absence, is also considered a viable alternative.
Following Pedri’s injury, Barcelona now have a total of eight players on the injury list. In addition to Pedri, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Dani Olmo, Joan García, Andreas Christensen, Gavi, and Marc-André ter Stegen are all currently unavailable.
Among all injured players, only Lewandowski is nearing a return and is expected to be available for Sunday’s match against Elche at the Olympic Stadium.
The Polish striker trained with the squad again on Wednesday. Having missed the last three matches (against Girona, Olympiacos, and Real Madrid) due to an injury sustained during the previous international break, he may see some playing time against Elche.
