Wolverhampton Wanderers Appoint Rob Edwards as Head Coach on Long-Term Deal

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the appointment of Rob Edwards as their new head coach, signing him to a contract until June 2029. The move follows the sacking of Vitor Pereira earlier this month after a winless start to the Premier League season, with Wolves languishing at the bottom of the table with just two points from 11 games. Edwards, who left his role at Championship side Middlesbrough, joins for a reported £3 million compensation fee.
The 42-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having previously played for Wolves and served as their caretaker manager in 2016. His coaching career includes stints at Watford, Luton Town—where he secured promotion to the Premier League—and a successful spell at Middlesbrough, where he was guiding the team toward a potential playoff spot. Edwards’ familiarity with Wolves, combined with his development of talents like Max Kilman, makes him a strategic choice for the club’s long-term vision, even amidst their current relegation battle.
The appointment, finalized on November 12, signals Wolves’ intent to stabilize under Edwards’ leadership, with the former Aston Villa player set to begin work immediately as the team prepares for their next fixture.
