Manchester City Join Bayern Munich in Race for Feyenoord’s Givairo Read

Manchester City have entered the race to sign highly-rated Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 19-year-old Dutch defender, under contract until 2029, has emerged as one of Europe’s most promising full-backs and is now attracting serious interest from two of the continent’s elite clubs.Read has impressed in the Eredivisie with his explosive pace, strong one-on-one defending, and notable attacking output. Across the past two seasons, the Netherlands U21 international has recorded 3 goals and 8 assists in 50 appearances, numbers that underline his growing influence from the right flank.
Bayern Munich currently lead the pursuit after holding initial discussions with Read’s representatives. Under Vincent Kompany, the German champions see the teenager as a long-term option capable of competing with and eventually succeeding players deployed at right-back.
For Manchester City, the interest aligns with a clear strategy of identifying a successor to veteran Kyle Walker. With Read’s current market value estimated at €25 million, a move is most likely to materialise in 2026, allowing all parties additional time to assess development and squad needs. As it stands, no formal bids have been submitted, but both clubs are expected to monitor the player closely throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
