Gazzetta dello Sport: Kim Min-jae Open to Milan Move, But Bayern Must Accept Loan + Option

January 2 – According to a report by *Corriere dello Sera* journalist Andrea Ramazzotti, AC Milan view South Korean center-back Kim Min-jae as an ideal target to reinforce their defense, despite his salary exceeding the club's wage structure and Bayern Munich's reluctance to accept a loan-with-option deal.
After successfully signing Niclas Füllkrug to replace Santiago Giménez, Milan have shifted their focus to the backline. The club aims to sign a truly high-quality player rather than merely adding depth. Therefore, the management is exploring the market, seeking key opportunities, with Bayern defender Kim Min-jae among the targets monitored, as the player himself is reportedly dissatisfied with his current situation.
Kim is experiencing a relatively challenging season, with significantly less consistent playing time compared to the past two years. While his place in the national team for the World Cup is unquestioned, his limited involvement at Bayern has unsettled him, especially since he is accustomed to being an undisputed starter. Thus, Kim is considering new options and is in no rush to decide.
Several clubs have expressed interest to his representatives, with Fenerbahçe being the latest. However, Milan’s interest stands out as particularly appealing. If Kim decides to leave the Bundesliga, a return to Italy would be his most attractive option. Milan, meanwhile, prioritize targets who can adapt quickly to Serie A.
However, completing the deal will be challenging. First, Bayern must be convinced to accept a **loan-with-option-to-buy** structure. Additionally, Kim’s salary exceeds Milan’s wage framework. Despite the player’s personal interest, economic factors remain a significant hurdle. Nevertheless, the situation could evolve, especially if Kim’s playing time does not increase.
