Deschamps Emerges on Real Madrid's Managerial Shortlist
Didier Deschamps, the long-serving manager of the French national team, has been included on Real Madrid's shortlist of candidates for the head coaching position next season, according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

Deschamps, who has led France since 2012, previously announced he will step down after the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, ending a 14-year tenure that includes the 2018 World Cup triumph and a runners-up finish in 2022.

Real Madrid values the 57-year-old for three key reasons: his proven leadership across clubs like Monaco, Juventus, and Marseille, as well as with the national team; his trophy-winning pedigree; and his strong relationships with key Los Blancos players, particularly Kylian Mbappé, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Eduardo Camavinga. These connections could ease the transition in a star-studded dressing room.

The timing aligns with uncertainty surrounding current Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa, whose position could come under pressure if the season ends without major silverware, such as an early Champions League exit.

While Deschamps' pragmatic, defensively solid style has delivered success internationally, some fans question whether it suits Real Madrid's attacking traditions at the Santiago Bernabéu. His agents' phones have reportedly been busy with interest from multiple clubs.

This development adds intrigue to Real Madrid's summer planning as they seek stability and results in La Liga and Europe.
