Bayern Fans Attempt to Disturb PSG Players with Fireworks on Eve of Champions League Match; Security Personnel Intervene

May 8 – According to several French media outlets, Bayern Munich fans attempted to disrupt Paris Saint-Germain's preparations by setting off fireworks near their team hotel on the eve of the Champions League semi-final second leg. The security detail of the Paris club quickly intervened, preventing any significant disturbance.
This did not unsettle Luis Enrique's side. According to information obtained by Le Parisien, Bayern fans tried to disturb the sleep of PSG players between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, just hours before the decisive Champions League semi-final second leg between the two sides (which PSG eventually won 6-5 on aggregate).
Around 2:00 AM, supporters of the German champions attempted to set off fireworks outside the hotel where PSG were staying. The club's security personnel intervened promptly. A few firecrackers were set off, but they did not truly disrupt the rest of Ousmane Dembélé and his teammates. Ultimately, Dembélé proved to be the most sharp player on the pitch that night, scoring the decisive goal just two minutes after kick-off.
Using fireworks at night to disturb opponents is a relatively common tactic. On the eve of the Champions League Round of 16 second leg in 2021, PSG fans employed similar methods against Barcelona players.
Two similar incidents occurred this week. The first took place on Tuesday in London, ahead of the Champions League semi-final second leg between Arsenal and Atlético Madrid. That disturbance lasted several minutes, and Atlético have filed a complaint with UEFA.
On Wednesday evening, Strasbourg fans staged a similar protest outside the hotel of Rayo Vallecano players, as the two sides prepared for their UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final second leg on Thursday night. "They are determined not to let us rest," the Spanish club responded on social media, posting a video as evidence.
