Bruno Fernandes Crowned 2025/26 Premier League Player of the Season

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has officially been named the 2025/26 Premier League Player of the Season after a record-breaking campaign.

The Portuguese playmaker enjoyed a historic year, driving his club back into the UEFA Champions League with a third-place finish. Fernandes proved to be the ultimate creative force in English football, scoring eight goals and delivering a stunning 21 assists. His assist tally officially breaks the all-time Premier League single-season record, surpassing the previous milestone of 20 jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

Fernandes topped an elite eight-man shortlist that included Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Arsenal's defensive trio of Gabriel, Declan Rice, and David Raya. The award was decided by a combination of public fan votes and an expert football panel.

"To win this award is a massive honor," Fernandes said. "But the individual records mean nothing without the hard work of my teammates."This accolade caps off a glittering individual double for the 31-year-old midfielder, who was also named the Football Writers' Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year earlier this month.
