TyC Summary: Barcelona Offer €70m + Ferran Torres for Julián Álvarez, Rejected by Atlético's Majority Shareholder

TyC Summary: Barcelona Offer €70m + Ferran Torres for Julián Álvarez, Rejected by Atlético's Majority Shareholder
Argentine outlet TyC Sports has summarized Barcelona's pursuit of Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez.

After months of speculation and uncertainty surrounding the future of the Argentine striker, Barcelona have opened negotiations with Atlético Madrid to sign him.

The report states that Barcelona's initial offer was approximately €70 million plus Ferran Torres, who has a market value of €50 million according to Transfermarkt.

However, Atlético Madrid's majority shareholder, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, and club president Enrique Cerezo rejected the proposal.

They have made it clear that Atlético will not sell "La Araña" (The Spider) for less than €120 million, as they plan to use the funds to find a replacement in this transfer window.

Atlético's board have warned they will not drag out negotiations; they seek concrete and concise talks to complete the transfer, allowing them to seriously assemble their squad for next season.

Meanwhile, according to Spanish media, Álvarez has rejected the club's offer of a contract renewal. His current deal with Atlético runs until June 30, 2030.

As a result, Atlético believe Álvarez is open to continuing his career elsewhere.

While Barcelona appear most eager to sign Álvarez, several other financially powerful clubs have joined the race. Reports from France and England suggest that Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal – who will face each other in the Champions League final next Saturday – will also try to sign Álvarez.
