Inter Milan's Serie A title hopes took a hit on Wednesday as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Bologna. The result leaves them three points behind league leaders Napoli, although they still have a game in hand.
Inter took the lead in first-half stoppage time through Lautaro Martinez, but Bologna equalized in the 64th minute through Emil Holm. Inter regained the lead just before the interval through Federico Dimarco, but Bologna scored again in the 70th minute through Riccardo Orsolini.
Inter had a number of chances to score a third goal, but they were unable to find the net. The draw means that Inter are now six points behind Napoli, who beat Sassuolo 2-0 on Tuesday.
Inter manager Simone Inzaghi said after the match that he was disappointed with the result, but that his team would continue to fight for the title. "We had a good first half, but we didn't play well in the second half," Inzaghi said. "We need to be more clinical in front of goal."
Bologna manager Thiago Motta said that he was happy with his team's performance. "We played a good game against a strong team," Motta said. "We were unlucky not to win."
The draw means that the Serie A title race is now wide open. Napoli are still the favorites, but Inter and Juventus are also in contention. The next round of Serie A matches will be played on January 20 and 21.
