Arsenal Shift Focus to Other Targets as Hopes of Signing Benjamin Sesko Fade

Arsenal are exploring alternative attacking options as their chances of securing top target Benjamin Sesko this month diminish, according to sources.

Manager Mikel Arteta has been open about his desire to strengthen Arsenal's attack after the team’s inconsistent form in the Premier League title race. The club’s interest in Sesko dates back to last summer, when the Slovenian striker decided to extend his contract with RB Leipzig.

While it is still possible that Sesko could leave Leipzig at the end of the season for a transfer fee around €70m-€75m ($72m-78m), the German club is not keen on letting him go this January. Although no formal bids have been made for Sesko, there is a growing belief that he will remain in Germany, leading Arsenal to consider other options ahead of the transfer deadline.

Arsenal have not restricted their search to center-forwards alone. They are also considering Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha, although a deal for him seems unlikely at this stage, though the situation could change before the deadline.

The Gunners have long been interested in Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, who has a release clause set around €60m. While Barcelona was initially expected to be the frontrunner for his signature, both Arsenal and Tottenham are now keeping a close watch on his situation.

Additionally, Arsenal had previously looked into signing Dusan Vlahovic, but their interest reportedly waned when it became clear that the striker was set on moving from Fiorentina to Juventus. While it is unclear if Arsenal will revive their pursuit, reports from Italy suggest Vlahovic is hesitant to leave Juventus, especially with the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani.

Arsenal are also in talks to sign 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg. The young talent has drawn interest from multiple clubs, including those within the City Football Group, where he could potentially move to Girona instead of Manchester City.
