Atletico Collapse: Blow Two-Goal Lead After Champions League Exit

Atletico Madrid suffered a devastating 4-2 loss to Barcelona in LaLiga on Sunday, compounding their recent Champions League elimination by Real Madrid. The match at the Metropolitano Stadium saw Atletico squander a 2-0 halftime lead, a stark contrast to their dominant first-half performance.  

Just days after a grueling 120-minute penalty shootout loss to Real, Atletico appeared poised for victory. However, Barcelona staged a dramatic comeback, fueled by stoppage-time goals from Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres. "It was a weird game," said Atletico's Marcos Llorente, attributing the collapse to fatigue from their midweek Champions League fixture. "I do think that the 120 minutes that we had to play in the Champions League made a difference."

The defeat leaves Atletico four points behind both Barcelona and league leaders Real Madrid, with Barcelona holding a game in hand.
