Barcelona Faces Financial Crisis Again, Araujo Set for Summer Sale

Barcelona is once again facing financial difficulties, leading the club to consider selling key defender Ronald Araujo, also known as the "Uruguayan Bull." Although Barcelona had managed to stabilize their finances earlier this season, achieving the 1:1 financial ratio required by La Liga, their situation has drastically changed in just two months. This setback followed La Liga’s rejection of a €100 million VIP seat sale as part of Barcelona's financial recovery, deeming it ineligible to meet the 1:1 ratio.
As a result, the club is back in a financial crisis, which has forced them to delay contract renewals for key players like Lamine Yamal and WojciechSzczesny, despite coach Hansi Flick's requests to extend their deals.
With an eye on the summer transfer window, Barcelona is now considering player sales to balance their books, and Araujo, despite his recent contract renewal, is one of the most likely candidates for departure.
Araujo’s release clause has been lowered to €65 million, making him an attractive option for potential buyers. Though Araujo almost left for another club earlier this year, he chose to stay with a long-term contract until 2031. However, with manager Hansi Flick preferring a defensive partnership of Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez, Araujo has found his playing time limited, appearing in only 14 matches this season.
While no formal offers have been made yet, Araujo's future at Barcelona now seems uncertain as the club looks to generate funds through player sales.
