On April 7, African football journalist Bréhima Diakité reported that several European scouts are currently at the 15th U17 Africa Cup of Nations, searching for talented players from the stands.
Chelsea has set its sights on Malian star Sédou Dembélé. The club’s representatives have been impressed by the young player’s significant talent and have received his scouting report.
According to sources from Africafoot within Mali, Chelsea has made an initial offer of €1.6 million in hopes of signing him.
Sédou Dembélé is a key player for the Mali national team, which has just secured a spot in the final stages of the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup—marking the seventh time Mali has reached this stage in history.
Red Bull Salzburg is also interested in Dembélé, who is affectionately nicknamed "Messi" by his close friends, as they are partners with the Bamako Jean-Marc Guillou Academy.
Additionally, the young prodigy has caught the attention of FC Barcelona, who discovered him at the UFOA Championship in Senegal, where he was named "Best Player."
