AC Milan Secures Koni De Winter in €20m Transfer from Genoa

AC Milan has officially confirmed the signing of Belgian defender Koni De Winter from Genoa in a €20 million package deal, marking a significant addition to their defensive lineup. The 23-year-old, who has penned a five-year contract, brings 68 Serie A appearances, three international caps, and a reputation as a robust center-back with flair.
De Winter’s journey includes stints in Juventus’ youth academy before establishing himself at Genoa, where he recorded 44 tackles, 21 interceptions, and 77 clearances in 29 games last season. His transfer was triggered by a conditional obligation following Genoa’s Serie A survival, showcasing his growing value. Despite a minor injury history, including a 2022 shoulder luxation from which he swiftly recovered to score a decisive goal, De Winter’s resilience stands out.
This move aligns with Milan’s 2025 summer strategy to reinforce their squad, following investments in players like Ardon Jashari. Club officials expressed optimism, citing De Winter’s potential to anchor their defense at the San Siro. As the Serie A season approaches, all eyes will be on the young Belgian to justify the investment and help Milan challenge for a top-four finish.
