Galatasaray Targets Ademola Lookman in January Transfer Window

Galatasaray is making a bold move to secure Atalanta’s star forward Ademola Lookman in the upcoming January transfer window, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Turkish club is keen to bolster its attacking lineup, with Lookman, the 2024 African Footballer of the Year, emerging as a top target. The 27-year-old Nigerian international has impressed since joining Atalanta in 2022, amassing 53 goals and 25 assists, including a historic hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final.
The potential transfer would see Lookman reunite with his Super Eagles teammate Victor Osimhen at Galatasaray. However, the move faces challenges, with multiple clubs, including Premier League sides, also vying for his signature. Romano reports that a possible transfer could be delayed to 2026 if January negotiations fail, with Atalanta holding firm on Lookman’s contract, which runs until June 2027 and carries an estimated €4.6 million annual salary.
Recent reports suggest Galatasaray may table a €40 million bid, though Atalanta’s valuation and Lookman’s form dip—highlighted by his early substitution in Nigeria’s last match—could complicate discussions. The transfer saga is set to intensify as the window approaches, with all eyes on Lookman’s next move.
