Lescott: United Expected Too Much from Rashford; His Barça Performance No Surprise to Me

December 24 – Former defender Joleon Lescott, speaking on the *Football Talk* program, stated that he is not at all surprised by Marcus Rashford's impressive performances at Barcelona.
Lescott said: "Rashford's displays at Barcelona are completely within my expectations. I’ve always believed his role is to make strong teams even stronger, rather than carry an average team on his own."
"During his time at Manchester United, the expectations placed on Rashford were too high – he was asked to handle all attacking responsibilities. But I don't think that role suited him. On the contrary, in a team that already has a strong core, if Rashford is given clear and specific tactical tasks, he can execute them perfectly and elevate the entire team to another level."
"There were a few rumors earlier about Rashford possibly joining Manchester City, and I was hoping the club would seal the deal that very day. Although I knew it was unlikely he’d choose City, his arrival would undoubtedly have made the team stronger."
"Just look at Rashford’s current performances at Barcelona. Barça already had stars like Raphinha – who was phenomenal last season – but Rashford’s arrival hasn’t weakened the team; instead, he’s injected new energy. He’s clearly a top-tier player."
