AC Milan have been pursuing Ethan Nwaneri for several weeks as they look to strengthen their attacking midfield options, but negotiations with Arsenal remain complicated. The young Englishman has emerged as one of Milan’s preferred targets, with the Italian club continuing to explore a way to bring him to San Siro before the summer transfer window closes.
Nwaneri’s absence from Arsenal’s matchday squad for the Community Shield against Manchester City has fueled speculation over his future. His situation has attracted serious interest from Milan, who reportedly see the 19-year-old as a strong fit for their attacking plans. His technical ability and preference for playing on the left foot are considered valuable qualities for a player capable of operating on the right side of an attacking trio.
Milan have already explored a loan deal with an option to buy, reportedly proposing a package worth around €40 million. Arsenal rejected that structure, however, leaving the two clubs still searching for common ground. The London club’s current position is that any agreement should involve a permanent transfer or at least include an obligation for Milan to complete the purchase.
The situation could still change during the final stages of the transfer window, particularly if Milan adjust their approach or decide to pursue other targets. Arsenal’s stance means the Italian club may have to commit significant financial resources immediately rather than relying on a temporary move before deciding whether to make the transfer permanent.
Milan are also considering alternative solutions as they assess their options in the attacking department. One possibility reportedly involves exploring a swap deal featuring Santiago Gimenez and Porto midfielder Rodrigo Mora. For now, however, Nwaneri remains an attractive target, with Milan needing to find a formula that satisfies Arsenal’s demands if they want to complete the long-running pursuit.
