Indonesia Ready to Reset as FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Preparation Begins
Indonesia are already turning their attention to the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 after their disappointing early exit from the 2026 ASEAN Championship. With Vietnam eventually lifting the title, the Garuda squad now have a fresh opportunity to recover and show improvement under head coach John Herdman. The team are expected to begin a training camp in preparation for the upcoming tournament, where they will be aiming for a much stronger campaign.
The FIFA ASEAN Cup will be particularly important for Indonesia because they will compete on home soil. The hosts have been placed in Group A of the Premier Division alongside Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Singapore. Playing in front of their own supporters could provide an additional boost, especially with the tournament scheduled to take place across Jakarta and Bandung.

For Herdman, the FIFA ASEAN Cup represents both a challenge and an opportunity. The previous failure will need to serve as valuable experience as Indonesia work on their weaknesses and improve their performances in difficult matches.
