Kane: "I Won 3 Trophies and Only Just Missed Out in the Champions League – The Ballon d'Or Isn't Up to Me"

Kane:
September 11 – After Bayern's 5-0 win over Bodø/Glimt, Harry Kane spoke to TNT, saying the Ballon d'Or outcome is not something he can control and ultimately depends on the voters.

On the win

Kane: "A strong start is crucial. There's still a long way to go, and our goal is to finish as high as possible in the league phase. The first game at home — we wanted to put in a strong performance and set the tone for the competition. The opposition were well-organised defensively, but overall it was a great night."

"I'm very happy with the result. We had to be patient, but I thought we were the better side in the first half. Their goalkeeper made some fantastic saves. We stayed calm and kept knocking on the door. The early goal helped us. We proved last season that we get stronger as the competition progresses. We wanted to perform well and take the three points in front of our fans. I'm glad we did."

On why Bayern fell short in the Champions League last season

Kane: "Success and failure often come down to fine margins. Last season we were very close, and ties at the semi-final level are usually decided by the smallest details. Now the manager has been here for a year, and we have a deeper understanding of his tactical ideas. Against any opponent, we carry enough threat — we're humble but hungry, and whether we have the ball or not, we're not an easy team to deal with."

On his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or

Kane: "I'm very proud to be nominated alongside my teammates. We won three trophies in Germany and only just missed out in the Champions League. But ultimately, the Ballon d'Or result isn't up to me — it depends on the voters. For me personally, it was a special season, but all I can do now is focus on the new campaign."
