Owen Discusses Salah's Future at Liverpool: A Call for Contract Changes

On March 27th, Owen spoke about Liverpool player Salah during an interview with talkSPORT.

Owen stated, "Salah is an interesting player; I think he wants to stay, and I'm actually quite sure he does. I believe Liverpool should slightly adjust their policy; they might say, 'Well, for a player of this age, we only need to offer a two-year contract.'

"But Salah is not an ordinary player. He is in great shape, very dedicated, often hits the gym, and is very professional. Don’t tell me that in three or four years, Salah won’t maintain this level.

"Salah is incredible, so I would change the rules for him; I would alter the length of his contract and offer him a longer deal. I'm not the kind of fan who says, 'Give Salah what he wants; he’s great, and we’ll win the league with him.' No, because you can’t put your club at risk, but I don’t think we’ve reached that point yet.

"The cost of replacing Salah would be quite high, so I would do whatever it takes to keep him. I believe he wants to stay, but sources tell me there are still significant differences between him and Liverpool."
